My Mission & Vision Statements
Recently, I took some time to craft a Mission Statement and Vision Statement for my career as a school counselor (my Mission Statement), and, more holistically, for all aspects of my life (in the form of a Vision Statement). You can see them below.
It is my hope that you, too, may also be inspired and emboldened to create your own statements, that will serve to encourage and motivate you in areas both inside and outside of your career.
Mission Statement:
My mission as a school counselor is to provide student-centered and responsive support to each of my students. In intentional partnership–and collaboration–with students; families; school staff; and the local community, I strive to create a practice that promotes and fosters the potentiality; empowerment; self-directed agency; and the drawing-out of individual, and collective, strengths of all students. Through often-utilized core tenets of genuineness; unconditional positive regard; and congruency, I aim to connect with all groups of students in a manner consistent with the steadfast goal, and intention, of providing intuitive and customized short-term and long-term service-delivery in the Academic; Career; and Personal/Social developmental domains for students. Using a data-driven approach to counseling, I commit to steadfast advocacy and leadership for students, complemented by a passion to advance social justice initiatives and push for systemic change efforts.
Vision Statement:
To cultivate a life-long passion for–and commitment to–learning, as being fostered and promoted by intellectual; emotional; physical; and spiritual growth and development.
